The Fabulous Story of BasarKus
Fratellini Academy & Compagnie Lamento
Dance / Petit Plateau

This is the story of Basil, an acrobat, and Markus, a juggler. But it is also the story of Basarkus, a hybrid creature tangled in his countless arms and legs. Initially inseparable and indivisible, the duo is overcome by a furious curiosity, and cannot resist the urge to dissociate. Their games then consist of overcoming their fears and experimenting with separation at all costs. Moving from symbiosis to individualization, they never stop embarking on acrobatic experiments to test the limits of this delirious cohabitation. The quest for identity and the notion of hybridity are at the heart of this story.

About the Artists

Dancer and choreographer Sylvère Lamotte founded Cie Lamento in 2015. Introduced to contact dance at an early age, the choreographer bases his research on the encounter with the other as well as on self-awareness, deploying his writing between expressivity and abstraction.

Since the company's inception, Sylvère Lamotte has collaborated extensively with final-year students from the CNDC in Angers, the CNSM in Paris and the Académie Fratellini, for whom he has created several repertory pieces. He also explores theatre, notably with Olivier Letellier and Guillaume Poix.
