Aside from being one of the most successful contemporary Norwegian novelists for adults, Erlend Loe is also a children's author. His six-part series about Kurt the forklift driver has been a great success both in Norway and abroad ever since the first book was published in 1996. Based on the story of Kurt, Quo Vadis? (trans. Kurt, Where Are You Going?), we see the main character successfully overcoming a deep-set inferiority complex. Wanting to leave his mark on the world, he quits his job and decides to vacuum-clean the whole planet. Told through the medium of storytelling, with 5 actors playing over 30 characters, his story touches on the need to preserve one's uniqueness and individuality in a society built on unhealthy competitiveness.
