Children in Artistic Research
This seminar aims to establish a debate on academic and artistic research with children in the Performing Arts. The issues addressed at the seminar are part of a research project called "Presence of Childhood in Contemporary Theatre" which aims to analyse the political, aesthetic, and ethical implications of child participation as performers and collaborators in contemporary Performing Arts. Historically speaking, children are often ‘voiceless’ in the social sciences, with their knowledge, their culture, and their ways of living being often neglected from historic reports and research. One of the biggest challenges in this research with children is establishing an effective methodological approach to integrate their point of view into the study.
