SubTitles 3: How to Manage and Present Translations in Theatrical Performances and Other Presentations
Touring Theatres face the challenge of performing in areas where the local language may be different from the language of the players. This requires translation of the play as well as the means of presenting the translated text. Either the play must be performed in the local language, which is difficult and awkward for the players, or the text must be presented as subtitles in the local language, alongside the performance.
The Danish Theatre group, Batida, has a lot of experience in using subtitles for our performances abroad. After having struggled with PowerPoint, we invested money and time to develop a more practical approach which takes care of both onstage presentation, as well as creating a comprehensive and easy means of working for the translator. In doing so, ‘SubTitles 3’ was created. No more PowerPoint and no more confusion in your communication with translators!
‘SubTitles 3’ has been developed by Jens Borg in cooperation with Batida. It is freely accessible for anyone to use, in order to support cultural exchange internationally. All you need is a projector, a laptop, and the software!
