As a small country with 3 different languages, we face different ways of working in different contexts, which could also represent the complexity or challenges that countries like Switzerland have, for example. Johan De Smet together with Caroline Cornélis and Yannick Boudeau, we will give an overview of this.
In this lecture, we explore the strength and self-ownership of children and young people within culture and the arts. We explore:
How children can be architects of their own future.
Self-thinking, self-critic, self-creating, open and tolerant to the other.
How children and young people can find strength from apparent vulnerability to tell their own story, of the world they are living in now.
Examples are given of how children and young people can create (contemporary) theater themselves, even about the most challenging themes in life, and we prove both practical tools and substantive frameworks.
