Where I Started, Where I Ended Up
Next Generation Network

Opening on Wednesday 26 March at 5 p.m. / then free visits outside the meeting times

The Next Generation Network will curate a visual and audio installation based on stories of previous Next Generation participants, spanning the 18 years of the programme. The installation will focus on the ideas, dreams, and significant moments of younger artists practicing their work in the field of theatre for the young, inviting the "audience" to consider their inner worlds. The story of the installation will focus on what's in the "hearts and minds" of some NG artists and explore the lines of connections between them, across regions, countries, and practices. The text will capture personal testimonies and personal and shared creative visions.

Audiences viewing the work will be invited to consider:
When YOU were younger and starting out:
- What did you want?
- What were your dreams?
- Where are you now?
AND SPECIFICALLY:
- Can you remember one significant moment that influenced you as a younger artist and how it changed your life?

The installation will include photos (portraits) and text which capture individual stories, and we will use string or wool to form a "web of connection." Visitors will be invited to contribute to the expansion of the installation by writing their thoughts as a letter on paper (provided in the space) and making paper boats. Each boat, whether big or small, white or colorful, can carry writings, pictures, or anything else the visitors add.
