The play tells the story of Louise, an 11-year-old girl who lives in Alberta, Canada, with her father and older sister. One day, something extraordinary happens in her life: she sees a large transparent white bear behind her,
who follows her everywhere - at home, in the street, at school. It's not easy to convince her family that it exists
- especially when, little by little, transparent bears appear everywhere, following her father, her sister and all the
inhabitants of the town. The point is: only Louise can see and hear the bears. Does she see things that the others
don't or are they too inattentive?
Production Credits
In 2024, Pandorga Cia. de Teatro celebrates 18 years of continues research, creation and production of shows for young audiences. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the company creative process involves all its members in collaborative processes, usually based on material created or developed by company's playwright Cleiton Echeveste. "Louise/the bears" is our first creation of a show by another playwright. Our repertory of shows is regularly revised and restaged, in a continuous dialogue with contemporary issues, especially the so-called "taboo themes" in TYA. Pandorga has already presented their work in the USA, Peru, Ecuador and Cuba, as well many cities in Brazil. Their awarded repertory TYA performances include: "O Menino que Brincava de Ser" ("The Rainbow Boy"), "Cabeça de Vento" (Airhead") and "Juvenal, Pita e o Velocípede" (Juvenal, Pita and the Velocipede").
