Schön Anders / Beautifully Different

A dance piece about the search for identity and a feeling of belonging. Group behaviour shapes us. We organise ourselves into different groups, whether those be leisure clubs, or communities of states and unions. But what happens if an individual recognizes their own sense of self?

Choreographer Ceren Oran, together with a multicultural team, translates the possible answers into dance and music. Five dancers convey their own experiences of both otherness and belonging. They depict the constant tension between one’s sense of self and society in playful, humorous and poignant ways. As they uncover each other's emotional values, tensions begin to unfold. 'Schön Anders' is a thought-provoking and enjoyable performance, suitable for both adults and children aged 6 and above.

She is a member of Tanztendenz München e.V. as well as one of the founding and board members of the global network under ASSITEJ International, the Young Dance Network.

Moving Borders was created by Ceren Oran, Karolína Hejnová and a core collective of artists with the belief that contemporary dance can and should be accessible for everyone as an art form and as a practice.

With this in mind, the company's creative work focuses on public space performances, dance for young audiences, durational performances, and many other performance formats of audience encounters. The company and its artistic director Ceren Oran have been based in Munich/Germany since 2015, and contain a broad international profile of dancers, musicians, and stage designers.
