Silent Theatre Workshop
The Silent Theatre workshop explores how to include deaf or hearing impaired children of all ages (babies, toddlers, children, and adolescents) into theatrical audiences. We explore how to provide deaf or hearing impaired audiences access to theatrical performances upon an equal footing with their other peers (equal inclusion, not ‘special needs’).
Through short performances, technical methodologies, and lots of practice, this methodology utilises the ability of deaf or hearing impaired persons of all ages:
• To combine movement (or image) with a meaning
• To sense through empathy
• To improvise in order to express a desire
• To communicate by any means
