Cultural And Artistic Awakening For A New Economics Of Well-Being in English
Sophie Marinopoulos
Since the 1980s, a new sanitary and health challenge has shaken our society to its core: the impoverishment of our relational bonds is spreading at all levels of our daily life. All indicators are underlining the fact that the population of this planet is less and less capable of basic and very necessary social connections.
Our "wealthy" society is weakening and actually devaluing our human bonds. New health indicators need to be followed. Many researchers have already theorised these issues, such as Laurent Eloi, Patrick Viveret, Richard G. Wilkinson, and Kate Pickett.
Sophie Marinopoulos, Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, and Author, proposes new health indicators: Children’s Cultural and Artistic Awakening. She has been playing a key role in the public health and cultural policy in France with her report submitted to the Minister of Culture in 2019, available in English in 2020.
Her approach conceptualises «Cultural Health» which rehabilitates a universal culture, carrying the humanising awakening of little ones. In the spirit of the democratisation of culture, she has made more than 60 proposals for cultural policies with social dimensions, working on accessibility for all and recognising the needs of very young children and their parents. These recommendations are made in the context of family and parental change.

About the Artists
In addition to being a Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Family Specialist, and Founder of the Centres for Family Solidarity and Family Support "Les Pâtes au Beurre", Sophie MARINOPOULOS is an author and has published many books, including "Dîtes-moi à quoi il joue je vous dirai comment il va » ("Tell me what he's playing at and I'll tell you how he's doing") and "Ecoutez-moi grandir" ("Listen to me growing up") published by Les Liens qui Libèrent.
Her humanist commitments have led her to make proposals to successive governments in favour of childhood - in order to defend equal opportunities, to fight against all forms of violence, and to preserve the psycho-affective development of the child by making his or her awakening a priority. She warns about "cultural malnutrition" and in 2019, she wrote a report for the Ministry of Culture, with 66 proposals in favour of a policy for "a national strategy for the Cultural Health: to promote and perpetuate the cultural and artistic awakening of the child from zero to three years in the link with its parent."
