Thinking About Artistic Creation For Early Years

The masterclass is aimed at theatre people and educators interested in the performing arts for early years.

 

The Small Size Network invites you to watch three pre-selected performances for early years in a group led by Adrián Hernández y José Agüero, directors and performers from Teatro al Vacío (México / Argentina). The masterclass includes one introduction session of 90 minutes, three shows watched together, and a final discussion of 120 minutes. This programme is very limited in capacity - by booking a ticket please make sure you can commit to the Introduction and Final sessions AS WELL as all three performances. By reserving a ticket to the introduction session, you will be registering for the whole programme. (You do not need to reserve tickets for these performances, by booking onto this Masterclass, you will have pre-reserved tickets to the performances.)

 

We start with an introduction session where Adrián and José talk about their view on early years theatre. There is also time for discussion. This will take place on 25th May at 12.00-13.30 pm in the garden of the House of Poetry (Casa de Poesia).

 

 

Then, the group will watch the following performances:

• Bounced by Magnet Theatre on 25th May at 2pm in House of Africa.
• Half of the participants will watch The Boy and the Ball by Stephen Noonan on 27th May at 10am at Complejo Recreativo Quinta Los Molinos - an entrance fee to the Botanic Garden may need to be paid. The other half of the participants will see the same performance at Casa de la Cultura de Centro Habana on 30th May  at 11am. 
• Famiglie by La Baracca Testoni Ragazzi on 28th May at 2pm in Argos Teatro.

 

The final, reflective session of this programme will take place on 28th May at 3pm in Pabellon Cuba.

 

Working language: Spanish with English translation.

About the Artists

José Agüero

José is a performer and visual artist from Córdoba, Argentina. He trained as an actor at Teatro La Luna between 1993 and 2002. He participated in several productions in Argentina and Mexico. He is the founder and co-director of the company Teatro al Vacío. 

 

Adrián Hernández

Adrián graduated in Acting from the Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral at the Centro Nacional de las Artes del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes after studying from 2000 to 2004. Previously, he had studied Dramatic Literature and Theater at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, finishing in 2000. He is the Founder and co-director of the company Teatro al Vacío.

 

Teatro al Vacío (Argentina/Mexico) is a research and scenic creation collective that offers meaningful artistic proposals with and for children and young people. Since 2007, Teatro al Vacío has been doing work especially with and for children in their early years. The organisation coordinates and accompanies creative and professionalization processes in the performing arts for children. We offer workshops for children in hospitals, schools and festivals, and advise and accompany creation processes with children and adolescents. Teatro al Vacío's main objective is to guarantee the rights of children to art and culture, as well as respect for diversity and inclusion. Teatro al Vacío has presented its artistic proposals in different scenic spaces, cultural centers, museums, schools, hospitals, public squares and alternative spaces in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, South Africa, Spain, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, Austria, Finland, Denmark, Turkey, Canada, United States of America, China, Korea and Japan.
